Job Management

Multi-Family JME - Predecessor View

This view displays each task in the job schedule and allows the construction manger to modify predecessor relationships (within the job and from other jobs). Other scheduling attributes such as Sequence, Lead Time, Duration, and Offset may also be updated.

If you selected “All Jobs” from the Job filter from the Schedule View page, you will need to select a specific Job and click the Show Tasks button. If you selected a specific Job from the Schedule View page, the Predecessor View page will automatically generate based on the selected Job.

Only tasks in Scheduled status may be modified from the Predecessor View page.

Page Actions

To assign/modify a predecessor for a task (within the job):
  1. Make sure "All Task Status" is selected from the Task Status filter. Enter each ID number of the task you want to be the parent task. Separate each by a comma.

  2. Click the Update Job button.

To assign/modify a predecessor for a task (from other jobs):
  1. Click the Select link in the column titled Predecessors (Other Jobs). A popup window will open. You can only modify predecessors from other jobs when the task is in Scheduled status.

  2. Using the Job drop down box, select the job that contains the parent task(s) you wish to assign. The list of tasks will appear.

  3. Check the box beside each task you wish to assign as a parent.

  4. Click the Update Predecessors button. The popup window will remain open to allow you to pick predecessors from other jobs. If you are done, click the Close button.

When a task has more than one predecessor, its start date will follow the latest end date of all parent tasks.

To modify other scheduling attributes:
  1. Modify the Seq, Lead Time, Duration, or Offset.

  2. Click the Update Job button.

Predecessor View Edit Checking

The Predecessor View of the Multi-Family JME page contains several “edit checks” to evaluate

predecessor relationships before the data is saved in BuildPro.

To modify predecessor relationships within the job choose “All Task Status” from

the Task Status filter. By showing all tasks, this allows the page to edit check based on all

tasks in the job.

The list of edit checks include:
  1. Task ID not found or duplicate found. This error will appear when a task ID is entered as a parent and that ID is not found in the job or when the same task ID is entered twice in the predecessor text box. The task in error will contain a red ^ symbol below the predecessor text box.

  2. At least one task in the schedule must have no predecessors. This error will appear when all tasks in the job have a parent task. You must have at least one task with the predecessor text box empty. This will help ensure you do not create a loop in the schedule. In this case all tasks will contain a red ~  symbol below the predecessor text box.

  3. A task cannot be part of its predecessor list. This error will appear when a task’s ID is entered as its parent. A red § symbol will appear.

Other edit checks include:
  1. Whole numbers must be entered for Sequence, Lead Time, Duration, and Offset. A red # symbol will be placed next to Fractional numbers (e.g. 1.5).

  2. Duration must be greater than 0. A red @ symbol will be placed next to a duration less than one.
