Template Management

Template Actions

The Template Actions page displays links to the various functions you can perform on the current template, allowing you to manage or alter a schedule template.

Select the Template that you want to manage from the Template drop-down list. Only templates in Active status will appear in the drop-down list.

The Template Actions page is divided into groups of like actions:

  • Schedule Management

    • Schedule Management - Displays the stages of the template along with start and end dates. From this page users may drill into a stage and modify predecessor relationships.

    • Graphical View - Use this page to update predecessors and sequence numbers.

    • Advanced View - Similar to the Graphical View, but also allows the user to update lead times, durations, and offsets.

    • Link Reminders and Memos to POs - This functionality is for integrated companies only. It allows the user to link reminders and memo tasks to a PO task. The linked reminders and memos will only be inserted into the job schedule if the PO task is added.

  • Stage Management

    • Stage Management - From this page, stage names and sequences may be updated or new stages added.

  • Add/Delete Tasks

    • Add Task - Wizard - Allows the user to add a task to the selected template by copying an existing task and modifying it.

    • Add Task - Direct - Provides a one page interface to add a new task to the selected template.

    • Add Task - Multiple - Displays a list of existing tasks plus free form text boxes to add several tasks at once.

    • Delete Tasks - Delete tasks from the template.

  • Task Update

  • Apply Template Changes (If the selected template has errors and one of the links below is clicked, a warning message will appear. It is highly recommended that all template errors are fixed before applying changes to jobs. If not, these errors will be transferred to the jobs.) This section is disabled for Multi-Family jobs using the Project functionality (new multi-family).

    • Checklist Items - Modify check list items and apply those changes to tasks in active jobs.

    • Schedule Changes - Modify the template schedule and apply those changes to active jobs.

    • Milestone Key & ID - Modify milestone keys in the template and apply those changes to active jobs.

    • Stage Name - Modify stage names and apply those changes to active jobs.

    • Stage Sequence - (Pred or Stage/Rank) - Modify stage sequences and apply those changes to active jobs.

    • Task Name/Description - Modify task names and descriptions and apply those changes to active jobs.

    • Add Tasks - Add tasks to the template and add them to active jobs.

    • Vendor - Modify the supplier/vendor/trade on a task in the template and apply those changes to active jobs.

    • Categories - Modify task categories and apply those changes to active jobs.

  • Task List Summary

    • Task List Summary - List of tasks in the template. Drill down in the tasks takes users to the Template Task detail page.

  • Template Detail

    • Template Detail - High level information regarding the template may be updated.

  • Option Translation Table

    • Option Translation Table - For integrated users only. This allows users to modify the duration of tasks in the template based on specific options.

  • Options

    • Options - Add options for the template. For non integrated users only. Integrated users add options from the back office accounting/PO system.

  • Inspections

 

Left Nav Actions

Below are the links found on the left nav bar of the Template Actions page:

  • Add a New Template - Click this link to add a new template using a wizard.

  • View Templates - Click this link to view all templates grouped by each organization. Only templates from your organization and down may be viewed.

  • Add Task - Wizard - Allows the user to add a task to the selected template by copying an existing task and modifying it.

  • Add Task - Direct - Provides a one page interface to add a new task to the selected template.

  • Add Task - Multiple - Displays a list of existing tasks plus free form text boxes to add several tasks at once.

  • Plan Translations - For companies integrated to BuildPro, this page allows the user to map the home builder's plan to the BuildPro schedule template when new jobs are created.

  • Template Calendar - Provides a calendar view of the template that displays tasks appearing on each day of the schedule.
     

 

Changes made to a template do not affect other templates or existing jobs unless you use the links from the Apply Template Changes section.
